During the First World War the distribution of foreign films was dramatically reduced. What kind of movies did the residents of Ivanovo-Voznesensk watch in electro theatres at that time? A lot of facts were written and said about the history of Ivanovo cinema. We would remind you that the first movie was shown in Ivanovo-Voznesensk in 1897. And, in 1917 there were six electro theatres in the city.
In 1916 the film "Daughter of Tormented Poland" by A. Chargonin was shown on the screens of Ivanovo-Voznesensk electro theatres. It should be pointed out that before Chargonin  became a stage director, he had been an actor of the Moscow theater. However, Ivanovo-Voznesensk residents were fond not only of new movies, but the pictures of the past. For example: "Desperate boarder".

Our city is the first one in the Soviet Union, where the settlements for workers were built. The experience of England and Germany was assumed as a basis.
Architecture has always reflected the way of life and social conditions of people. That is why "the great social strivings of the USSR” in the 20's of the last century resulted in the construction of workers’ settlements. Ivanovo-Voznesensk was a pioneer in this business. Two settlements were built there.

Each morning, our group together with the German boys and girls, whose families sheltered Ivanovo group, met near the main base – Ladbergen community house. We arrived by cars or came on foot. A few of our girls mastered the beloved by the Germans means of transport - a bicycle ... In Germany, almost everybody has a bicycle, despite the number of cars in a family... They even prefer to take journeys by bicycles. However, we travelled by a comfortable German bus.
By the way, the weather in Germany was as hot as in Ivanovo now. But it was much easier to stand the heat. Air-conditioners are all in a day's work there. Special sprinkler systems on federal highways and on rural roads saved not only people but also the nature: grass and flowers were green and in bloom...

In July Ivanovo school and university students, the participants of the project "Overcome borders together”, carried out by Ivanovo branch of the Russian Peace Foundation, visited Germany. The details of the trip are vivid and endless. The program proposed to the guests from Russia by the German "Society of Friends of Germany", which is head by pastor of the Evangelical community in Ladbergen Rudiger Shvulst, was varied and very interesting. And one of its main priorities was the theme of war and peace.
Our group had become a team long before departing for Germany: they had written essays in Russian and in German about themselves and their hobbies, rehearsed songs in both languages, made a concert program. All the songs have their own unique biographies: some of them were written by German friends, some of them were translated from Russian, besides, some ones were not just translated, but also composed. One of the most recent is "Ladbergen", which was born in Germany: Masha Korneva devoted it to the city, where she had spent two weeks...
